You may remember that I originally wanted to try and do my own illustrations for The Alchemist’s Theorem, but I eventually decided I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. And thank goodness I did. Otherwise we would all be deprived of the great illustration above by my new artist friend who goes by the nickname Poohpuu.
Poohpuu is from Thailand and has done a great job on all five of the illustrations for the book. I will be posting a new one every Friday this month. In this first illustration we have Mendel and Sir Duffy working in their alchemy shop, A Pot He Carries. If you look closely, you can see Esther tucked away in Mendel’s pocket.
The first artist I got in contact with online canceled my order two days before it was due. I was getting anxious. I didn’t know if I’d be able to find an artist I can afford who would also be reliable. But then I found Poohpuu, who communicated so well and delivered each illustration in a timely manner. It has been such a relief to work with Poohpuu.
It is also a stomach fluttering feeling when you get to see your imagination take on physical form. I’ve been hanging onto these illustrations for a while and could hardly keep myself from posting them too soon. But now, with my Kickstarter launching in a month, it is time to show everyone the fantastical world of The Alchemist’s Theorem!
